I first met Gillianne Obaso 2 years ago at The Nairobi Flea Market held at The Alchemist. Like a moth to a flame, I was immediately drawn over to her table filled with delicious jars of homemade hot sauces.
After a few minutes of chatting, it became clear that this was a woman with a vision, a dream to build an empire around Ma Phoebe’s sauces. She was also a one woman show, handling production, packaging, orders, deliveries, and marketing by herself. She told me she needed an easy to use tool to simplify her operations and to call her when we had a solution that could help.
We called her the other week and asked if she was interested in being one of our beta testers for the HustleSasa, Inc. app.
She asked, “Can I do without a computer? I don’t have one!”
We said, “Nope, everything can be done from your smartphone!”
“Will it be easy to use?”, she said.
“It’ll take you less than 30 minutes to learn”, we replied.
She laughed and said “Ok, well, trust me. If I can learn to use it, anyone can!
Today, we’re excited to announce that Gilliane has used Hustle to launch her first website and using the inbuilt POS system to track her sales across sales channels – all from her mobile phone!
She’s already telling us her grand plans with hustle – to sell her hot sauce, then her ebook recipes, then her custom line of cooking equipment, and then finally, a beautiful restaurant by the lakeside in Kisumu where her mother once taught her to cook.
